How to Apply

APPLICATIONS FOR KAWARI GRANTS ARE BY INVITATION ONLY. The exception is a Quick Action Grant.

QUICK ACTION GRANTS supported by Kawari fund strategic and time-sensitive requests from Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities. (maximum request: US $25,000)

Where a small, targeted investment could make a big difference, Quick Action Grants are meant to fund activities that will occur within 90 days, to allow Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities to respond quickly and nimbly to developments and processes that have urgent implications for their rights. (i.e. a government or other institutional decision is imminent, an action to protect rights must be taken right away). This is not a small grants fund; it is an urgent response fund. The requests for these grants are accepted on a rolling basis. The requests should (i) support actions that cannot be addressed through Kawari’s regular grant process; (ii) address one or more of Kawari’s focus areas (see here); and (ii) relate to jurisdictional forest carbon finance initiatives in one or more jurisdictions that have reached a minimum level of progress in their engagement with a forest carbon crediting standard body or with a carbon finance provider (i.e. an LOI, MOU, MOA, Concept Note, submitted registration/project documents, a negotiated ERPA).

Get the application template for a Quick Grant LOI, located in the box below and submit it to kawari@rewild.org.

Applications for larger grants are by invitation only.
