How to Apply

When a carbon market decision can't wait, neither can funding. Kawari's Quick Action Grants are open on a rolling basis for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities facing urgent forest carbon decisions.

Quick Action Grants are Kawari's urgent response funds.

These grants are designed to be nimble, urgent, and directly useful to communities facing fast-moving carbon market decisions.

Quick Action Grants (maximum US $25,000) fund strategic, time-sensitive activities that will occur within 90 days — allowing Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities to respond quickly and nimbly to developments and processes that have urgent implications for their rights.

All other Kawari grants are awarded by invitation only.

Is your jurisdiction eligible?

Kawari's Quick Action Grants are primarily focused on tropical forest regions in jurisdictions where forest carbon finance programs have reached a minimum level of progress — defined as jurisdictions where national or subnational governments have signed Letters of Interest, Memoranda of Understanding, Memoranda of Agreement, or Emissions Reduction Purchase Agreements with the LEAF Coalition or another carbon finance provider. Requests relating to other jurisdictions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
